As the social environment continues to change, with rising national healthcare costs and a shrinking working-age population, companies are increasingly looking at employee health management from a managerial perspective and strategically implementing the concept of "health management.
The maintenance and promotion of employee health is a prerequisite for optimizing medical costs, improving productivity, and achieving sustainable corporate growth. Companies are required to take the initiative in making efforts to promote employee health and prevent disease.

We believe that investing in the health of our employees leads to higher motivation and performance, which in turn leads to higher corporate value through sustainable growth. We promote health management by setting "health" as one of our key themes based on our materiality of "building an organization and people that are trusted by society and can contribute to it.
Based on the "Health Declaration," we aim to be a company where each and every employee can work vigorously by proactively implementing initiatives for the health of our employees.

Declaration of Health

The JTEKT Group believes that the health of all employees and their families, both physically and mentally, is of the utmost importance. We will support the health of our employees and their families with compassion and sincerity, and engage in health promotion activities on an employee-first basis.
We declare that we will implement disease prevention initiatives to prevent employees and their families from getting sick, and work to create a workplace where everyone can practice health first, where everyone feels that the workplace is getting better and better.

Health Management Promotion System

The "Health Management Promotion System" is organized by management, headed by our President, and consisting of human resources departments, labor unions, and health insurance associations, to promote health management through the cooperation of all parties concerned. In addition, the "Company-wide Health and Safety Committee," chaired by the president, reports on the plans and results of health management measures, and after receiving approval for each measure, implements and implements the measures at each workplace and among employees.

Evaluation Indicators (KPI) for Health Management Promotion

We consider "improving employee motivation and performance" to be a management issue, and while implementing various health measures, we evaluate them comprehensively from two perspectives: "result indicators" and "action indicators.
(Health KPI) In particular, we believe that the "action indicators" will contribute to raising health awareness by providing indicators that can be improved through the actions of each and every employee. To enable employees to work healthily and vigorously, we are working to promote employee health by implementing a PDCA cycle to achieve our goals.

[ Mental Health ]

Promotion of mental health measures

Various mental health measures are implemented with a focus on preventing depression and other mental illnesses.

Conduct stress checks

Stress checks are conducted in order to assess employees' awareness of their own stress and the extent of their psychological burden. 89.9% (10,488 employees) took the stress checks in FY2023, and counseling was provided to those who requested it among those with high stress levels.
In addition, we conduct workplace improvement activities based on the results of stress checks. The results of workplace analysis are used to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each workplace and are utilized in workplace management.

Mental Health Education

Mental health education consists of understanding mental illness and how to deal with it, anger management, how to deal with one's own stress, and assertion.

Health Care News" and "One Person, One Word" activities

In order to raise employees' awareness and interest in health, we develop monthly "health care newsletters" with health information on seasonal topics and internal events.
As part of our efforts to create an open workplace, we have developed the "One Person, One Word" activity, in which all members of each workplace speak out on a different theme each month during the morning and lunch meetings. The purpose of this activity is to share each other's thoughts and to stimulate communication in the workplace by creating an opportunity for discussion

Support for returning to work for employees on leave due to mental illness

Support for returning to work for employees who have been absent due to mental illness, based on the guidelines of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, we support employees who have been absent from work due to mental illness to return to the workplace. Our returnto-work support program focuses on preventing recurrence and is implemented in cooperation with external organizations such as the "Vocational Center for Persons with Disabilities."

Health care for those working long hours

In order to manage the health of employees who work long hours, we provide interview guidance (medical checkup for employees who work long hours) by industrial physicians for those who work long hours. During the interview, the industrial physician checks the level of fatigue, physical condition, work situation, etc., and if necessary, provides guidance on lifestyle and restrictions on overtime work for the following month.

Employees who work overtime hours exceeding 45 hours for three consecutive months or 70 hours in a single month are eligible for the medical checkup for long-hour workers.

[ Physical Health ]

To reduce the risk of lifestyle-related diseases among employees

We actively support our employees' health management, emphasizing prevention, early detection, and early treatment of lifestyle-related diseases and other illnesses.

physical examination

A Physical examination is conducted annually for all employees, and support is also provided according to the results of the medical checkups, including follow-up visits to specialists and health guidance for those with findings. 60.6% of employees received a full medical checkup in FY2023, and the management rate (treatment continuation rate) for those at high risk was 73.5%.
In addition, we provide more than statutory medical checkup items and also offer age-appropriate stomach and colorectal cancer checkups. 2023 fiscal year saw an overall investment of approximately 200 million yen in health checkups.

health education

In FY2023, we focused on anti-smoking education, sleep education, and women's education, with 59.3% of female employees taking part in these courses.

specific health guidance

We have been conducting in-house specific health guidance every year for the purpose of preventing the onset of lifestyle-related diseases. 54.8% of employees received such guidance in FY2022, and in FY2023, in order to increase the implementation rate and effectiveness, we utilized online tools and provided health guidance from industrial physicians.

Smoking countermeasures

A non-smoking roadmap has been created for a total smoking ban on the premises starting in FY2026. 2024 will see the implementation of various anti-smoking measures, including a nosmoking day and anti-smoking support measures.

As a joint project with the JTEKT Health Insurance Association, we are promoting "prevention and health management" by analyzing medical and health checkup data to identify issues that need to be addressed. We also use health reports that calculate lifestyle charts and healthy age at each business unit to identify health risks and recommend medical checkups to those who are found to be at risk of health problems.

Health Support Point System

We have introduced the "Health Support Point System" in cooperation with the JTEKT Health Insurance Association with the aim of supporting lifestyle improvement and ongoing health promotion.
As of the end of FY2023, 45.9% of employees participated in this system, in which points awarded according to the results of medical examinations, the number of steps taken per day, and the status of achievement of healthy behaviors can be exchanged for various prizes. As of the end of FY2023, 45.9% of employees participated in the program. The program is being used to establish healthy habits and raise health awareness.

walking campaign

To raise employees' awareness of exercise, we hold in-house walking events in which employees compete for the average number of steps they take during the month, with approximately 1,500 employees participating in fiscal 2023.

Establishment of massage rooms

For the purpose of improving employee productivity and relaxation, massage rooms have been installed at some business sites since March 2024. Health keepers (in-house physiotherapists) provide treatment tailored to the physical condition of employees, and 97.5% of employees responded "satisfied" in a post-treatment questionnaire.

Response to Infectious Diseases

In preparation for the outbreak or spread of infectious diseases within the company, we stockpile infection-control supplies, conduct educational activities, and establish a system in the event of an outbreak of infected employees. To protect the health of our employees and their families, we will continue to share information with our group companies and business partners, while taking measures against various infectious diseases.

About Healthy People Assessment

With the aim of encouraging employees themselves to actively think and act to maintain and improve their health, we conduct an annual "Healthy Human Evaluation" and provide feedback on the results to individuals and workplaces.
In FY2023, we saw the establishment of exercise habits and improvement of sleep conditions as issues to be addressed, and implemented a walking campaign and interviews with those with poor sleep.
